CATHAL GAVIN

THE STORY SO FAR

Cathal Gavin from Swinford, Co. Mayo, Ireland, sprung to fame after he released his 8-track album “Voice of an Angel” in October of 2015 at the young age of 13.  After 4 months of sales, Cathal with National and International support raised over €21,000 for Foxford and District Alzheimer's Charity in Co. Mayo. 

Since then Cathal has performed extensively across Ireland at many of the country’s finest venues sharing the stage with some of Ireland’s biggest recording stars, he has also gone on to appear on numerous TV and Radio shows worldwide.

 

​Cathal opened the Carraig Donn Fashion House, 50th year celebration in their flagship store in Westport, Co. Mayo. He then went on to open the ‘Oireachtas Fashion Show’ in the Shelbourne Hotel Dublin, in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Ireland.

Cathal performed on a number of occasions at the ‘Operation Smile Ireland’- Carols by Candlelight concert in Dublin, fundraising for children who need urgent 'Cleft Palate' surgery in third world countries.

Cathal opened the '10th Annual Grandparents Mass' in Knock Basilica to an audience of over 7,000 people.

Cathal went on to compete in 'RTE/TG4 Junior Eurovision Song Contest' where Cathal wrote and composed his own song in Irish reaching the televised finals. 

Cathal has appeared on several TV and Radio shows and has performed extensively throughout Ireland at many 'Concerts and Corporate events' as well as high profile 'Weddings and Funerals'.

Cathal has been featured numerously on Canadian Radio & Television show “Salt & Light”.

At age 16, Cathal performed at the 2019 World Youth Day for Pope Francis, in Panama, Central America to an audience of 250,000 people. Over 3 million people attended these week long concerts. Cathal was the third Irish person and youngest to ever appear at WYD, following after Irish Stars Dana Rosemary Scallon (1993) and  Fr. Liam Lawton (2002). Cathal's performance was broadcasted on Shalom World TV to over 37 million viewers. 

Cathal (17) had the privilege of singing alongside Phil Coulter, August 2019.

Cathal organised a very special concert in Swinford Parish Church on the 6th December 2019 in memory of his aunt Adelle Gavin. After a sell-out night, the concert raised over €10,000 for the ‘Mayo Roscommon Hospice’. 

The accomplished singer has many awards to his name, including The Mayo Dublin Association, ‘Mayo Young Person of the Year 2020’ which was awarded to Cathal in February 2020. 

Cathal headlined the 2020 ‘International Mayo Day Global Voices Live Show’, presented by Louise Duffy, which was broadcasted worldwide to the Mayo diaspora.

More recently Cathal Performed in the ‘To-Be-Irish’ Campaign in association with the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs alongside Mayo County Council. Cathal’s Performance which was recorded in Ashford Castle was broadcasted worldwide. 

Cathal was set to perform in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago & Philadelphia, these events have been postponed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Cathal released his debut single ‘Forever Young’ on July 6th 2021 across all streaming platforms worldwide. The powerful Irish-Pop single with an uplifting Celtic feel made its way into iTunes Top 100 Charts and maintained a peak position.

Following on from the phenomenal success of his debut single, Cathal reimagined the iconic hit ‘I’d like to teach the world to sing’ made famous by the New Seekers (1971). ‘Christmas Wish’ made its first official airplay in December 2021 and captured huge audiences across Ireland. The single has since been streamed in over 60 countries.

The now 21 year old, Tenor, dazzles audiences with his mesmerising voice, which has been described as “a powerful voice that transcends beyond his years and translates across generations through his multi genre style”.
